Bato reacts to question if there’s a possibility that Jovie Espenido becomes Iloilo Chief

After the successful anti-drug raid against the Parojinog clan conducted by the members of Philippine National Police (PNP) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) led by Ozamiz Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, the cop who also nabbed the former Albuera Leyte Mayor Espinosa quickly became an internet sensation.

The netizen even asked the government to transfer Espinido to another drug infested city and destroy the other possible narco politicians.

Most of the netizen believed that Espenido must be assigned to Iloilo where the two mayors, Jed Mabilog of IloIlo City and Sigfredo Betita of Carles were also included in the drug list of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Because of the popular demand, RMN Iloilo, a local radio news network asked PNP Director General chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa when would he assign Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido to Iloilo.

But the PNP Chief only laughed to the question of RMN Iloilo and he still unsure if he’s going to give another assignment to Espenido.

He also confirmed that many Local Government Units (LGU’S) also asked him to assign Espenido in their place to resolve the illegal drug problem in their place.

Bato admitted that he assigned Espenido in Ozamiz City because he believed that the Chief Inspector is competent to resolve the extensive problem of illegal drugs in the said city and face the alleged narco-politicians who cannot be stopped easily.

Espenido became controversial after the former Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. that he nabbed was killed by the members of CIDG led by Supt. Marvin Marcos.

But despite of the controversies that he faced, many locals from Leyte said that Espenido was a ‘good cop’ and nabbed many criminals during his time in the said province.

Since he was assigned in Ozamiz City on December 2016, Espenido also became the cop who got the most arrested drug personalities in Region 10.
