President Rodrigo Duterte invites the 200 Lapanday farmers to eat at the Manila Hotel tonight.
The farmers came from Tagum were already staying in Mendiola for seven days to protest against the Lapanday Food Corp. that recently attacked by the New People’s Army.
“Kumain na kayo ng hapunan?” President Duterte asked the farmers.
“Ilan kayo lahat dito? Bong, reserve ka ng 200 sa Manila Hotel. Doon ko kayo pakainin. Ayaw ninyo? Bong, 200 sa Manila Hotel. Gusto nila Manila Hotel,” President Duterte told Bong Go, his special assistant.
“Basta ‘yung nakabarong lahat don, huwag ninyo pansinin ‘yun. Hindi tayo magkakilala. Sabi ni Mayor, dito kami mag-kain ng hapunan… Manila Hotel… para makatikim kayo,” Duterte added.
The President was serious in his offer to feed the rallyist in the five star hotel.
Prices of the food in the Manila hotel is ranging from 1,000-5,000 pesos per people.
The farmers asked the President to urge the Lapanday Foods Corporation to follow the government orders to give away the lands to the farmers who listed in the agrarian reform beneficiaries.
The Lapanday Foods Corp. reportedly deployed 800 armed security guards to barricade the banana plantation that ordered by the government to turn over to the farmers.
