Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will announce a 1 trillion yen ($8.66 billion or 428B PHP) aid package for the Philippines, during his 2- day state visit on Thursday.
According to a Japanese Senior Official, the said package will become one of the largest aid that they will give to a single country.
The aid of Japan for the Philippines will spread over five years. The money combines private-sector investments and official development assistance for the country, which will boost infrastructure building in the Philippines.
The money will be use to build subways and electric power systems for the country’s regional cities.
Japan will also help the anti-illegal drug war of President Rodrigo Duterte. According to Prime Minister Abe, they want to work together with the Philippines to think relevant measures to fight illegal drugs.
The Prime Minister also lauded President Duterte’s action on the issue of West Philippine Sea and maintaining a peaceful solution to end the dispute.’
Mr. Abe was also honored to become the first head of state to be received by Duterte in Davao. He also added that he put emphasis with his relationship with Duterte and the Philippines.
According to Asia Nikkei, the Japanese leader aims to prevent China from getting too close to the President and he is scheduled to visit the humble house of Duterte in Davao City to build more friendship in each other.
