A happy first ever field trip of Mayors in the Philippines to Malacañang Palace became a nightmare after they met President Rodrigo Duterte in a closed-door meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
The first batch of Mayors came to Malacañang to meet President Duterte who ordered to summon all of them and most were carried by government bus.
A mayor from Luzon told Inquirer about what happened during the tensed meeting where President Duterte informed the local officials about the thick drug list that he would publicize soon and the growing narcopolitics in the Philippines.
“very bad mood. Minura at pinagbantaan ang mayors na involved sa illegal drugs at corrupt” the Mayor said in a text message.
But another Mayor from Nueva Vizcaya said that President Duterte seeks the help of the Mayors in his War against drugs during the meeting.

President Duterte said during one of his speeches that he would not hesitate to kill all the Mayors who got involved in illegal drug operations in their place. He also said that he doesn’t care if the history would label him as the ‘butcher’.
Duterte said that he would show the list in the meeting which contained the names of 2,000 public officials including Mayors, Congressmen and Barangay Captains.
