President Rodrigo Duterte was warmly welcomed by the Singaporeans in his two day visit in the Lion City on December 15-17.
Duterte was greeted by Singaporean officials including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss things that would improve the relationship of the two countries.
He also had a meeting with Singapore President Tony Tan and Prime Minister Lee followed by a State Banquet in honor of President Duterte.
Duterte also set to visit the Singapore Botanic Garden where an orchid will be named in his honor, according to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
That is part of Singapore’s tradition since 1957 to honor visiting world leaders.
There are now over 180 orchid at the Singapore Botanic Gardens named after visiting leaders of state.
