In the same day, the Malacañang said that the the Maute Terrorist rebellion in the city was already “in its last miles.”
According to Padilla, the battle zone in Marawi City is now down to about one-fourth of a kilometer grid square.
However, they still remained challenged because the place where the Maute Terrorist were hiding were fortified by the strongest buildings.
“Unfortunately for us, unfortunately for them, in that small area remains among the strongest buildings. ‘Yung mga malalaki’t makakapal na building. So ‘yun ang nagiging challenge natin ngayon,” he said.
As of writing, the war in Marawi reached it’s fourth month and many evacuees wished that the siege would be finished by the military this month.
