Vice President Leni Robredo faces criticisms again from the netizens because of a ‘leak discussion’ between her supporter and a Duterte supporter.
In a post, blogger RJ Nieto revealed the discussion between a Robredo supporter who begged for a business class airline ticket to Los Angeles California.
According to the discussion, a group of Robredo supporters wanted to ‘sponsor’ an airline ticket for the Vice President for an incoming event in Los Angeles where she was invited to became a guest speaker.
But the Netizen who asked by the Robredo supporter was actually a Duterte supporter who allegedly gave the print screen of the discussion to Nieto.
He didn’t named the Robredo supporter and he only captioned “Daig ko pa pala Si Leni?”
This was criticized by the netizens and they said that it’s an evidence that the Robredo who is a public official accepting gifts from individuals.
According to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, public officials like Robredo “shall not solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their official duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by, or any transaction which may be affected by, the functions of their office.”
It also said Robredo cannot accept any gifts even “on the occasion of a family celebration or national festivity like Christmas, if the value of the gift is neither nominal nor insignificant, or the gift is given in anticipation of, or in exchange for, a favor.
Presidential Decree 46 also forbid the same practice and if the official was proven guilty, he or she must be removed from the public office.
Last year, PNP Director chief General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa also faced controversy and criticized by the supporters of Robredo because he admitted that Pacquiao shouldered his travel expenses to United States to watch the boxing match of the senator.
Even the Ombudsman said that they would probe Bato if the head of the PNP committed a violation.
