Vice President Leni Robredo was often addressed as “her excellency” by her supporters and other media outlets. But netizens debated if the Vice President is fit can be really address as his/her excellency because they believe that only the President can attain the title.
According to the article of COMELEC Chair Andres D. Bautista in Philstar on November 15,2014, he wrote that only the President can be addressed as “His Excellency”.
Prosecutor Darwin Cañete even posted a photo of the Civillian Models of Address, showing that the Vice President must only be addressed as “The Vice President Malacañang, Manila”
Some supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte were also angered by the wrong address used by the media outlets to Vice President Leni Robredo.
Two days ago, DZRH News Television Facebook Page posted a statement about the suspension of Pro-Duterte blogger Mocha Uson in their Radio and TV Show.
The Facebook page of the news outlet apologized to the Vice President for the actions of Uson and they addressed Robredo as “Her Excellency” that made the fans of Uson more disappointed and angry.
Even President Rodrigo Duterte hates to be called “His Excellency” and he preferred to be addressed as “Mayor”. He even said that he don’t wanted his execs to be addressed as “honorable”.
