WATCH: President Duterte vows to help a prisoner in Camp Bagong Diwa with 6 children

President Rodrigo Duterte is known for his threats against criminals, but surprisingly, the tough leader of the Philippines showed his soft sides to the detainees.

During his visit at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City on October 18, Wednesday, he promised to the prisoners that he’s going to improve the facilities of their prison.

Despite of being angry to criminals, it seems that President Rodrigo Duterte was touched by the situation of the prisoners that he visited and he promised to give them a television so they would not be bored while serving their time inside Camp Bagong Diwa.

“Nakakaawa naman ‘yung mga preso, walang libangan,” President Duterte said.

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Asec. Mocha Uson also documented the discussion between President Duterte and the prisoners that he visited.

Duterte talked to them and asked their problems inside the prison.

Some of them informed the President that their only hobby is playing chess, but their chessboard was already broke.

In response Duterte promised that he’s going to give them a new chessboard.

He also vowed to help the detainees including a prisoner from Cebu who cannot support his six children because of being detained.

“Mag iwan ako ng number, gusto ko ay yung ating relasyon personal,” President Duterte said.

“Kagaya mo, anim ang anak, p**** i** paano yan, pag hindi na mapag aral ang mga bata, mas lalaki ang problema sa mundong ito,” Duterte added.

The President said that he can call the number that he gave so a social worker can visit his children and help them.
