LOOK: President Duterte cries while announcing the possible death of missing employees trapped in NCCC Mall fire

President Rodrigo Duterte became heartbroken one day before Christmas after he discovered that there’s a big possibility that the missing people trapped in NCCC mall, Davao City.

The ground commander of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) already announced that 37 people who were trapped inside the said mall had ‘zero chance of survival’ and they relayed the information to President Rodrigo Duterte.

Even the President didn’t hide his emotion after he heavily hearted announced the sad news to the families of the missing victims who were anxiously waiting for news about their relatives around 2:30 a.m.

Families of the missing employees were shocked after they heard the sad news from President Duterte.

After he stopped himself from crying, he quickly comforted the relatives of the victims and gave them spiritual guidance.

Duterte handled Davao City for two decades as Mayor before he was elected as President.

Most of the missing person were workers of Business process outsourcing (BPO) firm SSI, which held operating at the fourth floor of the mall.

Rumors that they were trapped was circulated since yesterday, but the BFP only confirmed the sad news today.

According to the reports, the fire has not yet been declared under control, so the firefighters cannot still recover the bodies of the possible casualties of the unfortunate incident.

An employee of SSI who was able to evacuate during the fire, said that they thought that it was but a minor fire incident. But the white smoke that seeped through their exhaust fan soon turned into thick black smoke.

“Nag start palang siya sa exhaust white palang, tapos eventually ning baga dayon ang aso (At first, there was just white smoke coming in from the exhaust fan, and then thick smoke quickly followed),” she told SunStar Davao.

The mall blaze on Saturday was the biggest fire incident this month as a “general alarm” siren was toggled on that day.
