Amid the expose by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV against Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, a local news outlet in Davao City released several papers showed the alleged offshore bank accounts of the former soldier turned politician.
Known for being the poorest active senator in the Philippines, nobody expected that Trillanes got so much money deposited in banks abroad.
In Sen. Trillanes 2015 SALN, he declared that his asset only worth P5-M. It made him bagged the title as the poorest senator.
However, documents posted by Davao Breaking News showed the alleged bank accounts of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV in different countries like The Netherlands, Switzerland, Hongkong, Singapore, New Zealand and Canada.
The documents showed the balance of the alleged bank accounts checked on August 30, 2017.
The estimated balance of the alleged bank accounts posted by the local news outlet are more than 1M USD (50-M PHP)
Some accounts were also joint with a certain Fabian Go, which identified lately as a businessman who has known Trillanes for years.
However, the camp of Mr. Fabian Go denied having a joint account with Senator Trillanes and said that the documents released were fabricated.
In his alleged accounts in Singapore, Hongkong and Switzerland, Trillanes also joint his account with a certain Robert Fong.
The news report also added that the friendship between Mr. Go and Senator Trillanes started before the former soldier became a politician.
But the source of Davao Breaking News maintained the veracity of the said offshore accounts.
The source said they even tried depositing small amounts to some of the accounts to see if they are still active, and their deposits were accepted.
Davao Breaking News expose went viral on the internet, but Facebook system automatically deleted their viral post.
Renowned broadcaster Erwin Tulfo featured the bank accounts in his daily Facebook livestream.
He also posted the documents on his Facebook page.
According to Tulfo, the source of the documents came from an investigatory team who personally checked the alleged bank accounts of Sen. Trillanes.
He questioned Sen. Trillanes for not declaring the alleged bank accounts in his SALN.
“Ito na ba yung napakinabangan sa PNOY administration?” Tulfo asked his followers.
“Kung legal niyo itong nakuha, bakit hindi niyo ito dineklara sa SALN niyo?” he added.
Tulfo said that more documents were pending to be released to prove the legitimacy of the alleged bank accounts of Sen. Trillanes.
The camp of Senator Trillanes and Robert Fong is not yet giving any statement on the alleged bank account exposed by Davao Breaking News.
Yesterday, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV revealed the alleged bank accounts of Davao City Vice Mayor Pulong Duterte and Atty. Mons Carpio during the senate hearing on the 6.4-B shabu shipment from China.
