Former President Benigno Aquino III was saddened by the decision of the Supreme Court to remove Maria Lourdes Sereno from her position as Chief Justice.
Aquino, compared the decision of the eight justices who voted in favor to the quo warranto filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida against Sereno to a mango.
According to him, the decision of the Supreme Court is like forcing an unripe mango to ripe.
“Kung nais natin ang matapos na mangga, hihintayin nating mahinog ito. Alam din natin, pag pinilit itong mahinog, maasim ang kalalabasan nito,” Aquino said in his statement on the ouster of Sereno.
He believed that the constitution already stated that the Chief Justice can only be remove by impeachment.

Aquino said that the decision of the 8 justices was forced to ripe so the taste of it is possibly sour.
“Sa aking pananaw, kung anuman ang magiging paliwanag ng mayorya, ang makikita lang natin ay isang pilit na pilit na desisyon.” he said.
“Ang tanong ngayon: Gaano kaya kaasim ang desisyong pilit nilang isusubo satin?” he added.
Meanwhile, Robredo also expressed his sadness on the decision of the Supreme Court.
“Dumating na ang araw na pinangangambahan natin.” Robredo said in her statement.
Robredo believed that the Judiciary in the Philippines was tainted by the recent decision.
She urged the people to be vigilant and defend the Judiciary, constitution and democracy.
The Vice President assured that she would continue to fight to correct the mistakes made by the current government.
